The letters of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning represent one of the largest and most comprehensive bodies of literary and social commentary on the nineteenth century. The Brownings' Correspondence, projected to be 40 volumes, presents the complete text of the letters in chronological order, fully annotated. Each volume is self contained and includes, for the period covered, a chronology, biographical sketches of principal correspondents, a checklist of supporting documents (with relevant extracts), reviews of the Brownings' poetical works, and an index. Volumes 1 through 16 are now available.

The Brownings' Correspondence has been made possible through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
